“Welcome to my Worldâ€. Posts on Wednesday’s will be about whatever I feel like sharing. It may be about my kids, my thoughts, my memories or just a day in my life.
Mother’s Day was 10 days ago and I wanted to take a moment to share some of the highlights of it with you.
On Friday, May 6th, I was invited to Malia’s second grade class for “Mother’s Day Tea”. Each student had drawn a photo of their Mom and I had to try to guess which one was me out of all of them. I guessed right ;)Â Malia had drawn me wearing my sparkly Mickey necklace and Moms Panel shirt.
All the moms had a blank piece of paper in front of us so we could draw our kids. Malia giggled as I sketched her wearing her peace sign necklace and her favorite color dress.
She had written a poem for me…
I really enjoyed that special time with my Malia. I came home to find a BIG box waiting for me on the front steps. I opened it to find this…
Isn’t it beautiful?? I LOVE the ribbon!
I set the box on the table and decided not to open it until Mother’s Day. Then I started receiving texts, tweets and other innocent spoilers from fellow Panelists who were excited too! So I decided to go ahead and open it now. :)Â It was like a “grab-bag” inside. I smiled as I tried to decide which one to open first…
I thoroughly enjoyed each and every generous gift…
There was an insulated cooler picnic tote that will be great for our beach trips this summer…
A Mickey make-up bag…
A sturdy plastic Disney Parks cup…
A compact mirror…
Heel socks for nighttime use…
and an absolutely beautiful pink scarf!!
In fact it is SO pretty, I ALMOST want it to be winter again so I can use it…but not quite 😉
Special THANKS AGAIN to Laura and the Moms Panel team for all of these wonderful gifts 🙂
Sunday morning, I woke up to breakfast in bed and a serenade by all 5 kids and Steve. They sang, “Happy Mother’s Day to you” to the tune of “Happy Birthday”. On my tray was a bowl of fruit and glasses that Kasi had carefully arranged to look like a hidden Mickey. Malia put a flower on an ear to “make it Minnie instead”…
When I walked down to my computer, I found that Malia had sprinkled “pixie dust hearts” all over my desk and stuck them into the edges of my computer screen…
We spent the day at sporting events then came home to a delicious BBQ courtesy of Steve.
The kids all gave me their cards at that point. Here is a big card by Kasi with a drawing of me on the front…
The inside…
In Kindergarten, she was given a questionnaire to fill out. She actually did REALLY well. My girlie sure knows her Mommy…
I especially like the part: “My Mother likes to SNUGGLE” 🙂
She made me another card too. Here is the outside…
and the inside…
Front of Malia’s card…
Inside…
Front of Shawn’s card…love all the Mickey heads 😉
Inside of Shawn’s card… (he brought home pottery from school a few days later)
Front of Jared’s card…
Inside of his card…I love his Minnie Mouse 🙂
Sierra works at a restaurant and colored one of their cards for me 😉
A few days later she totally surprised me with another card and a gift. I won’t share the inside and what she wrote, but it was very, very special and her words meant the world to me.
She also bought me a gift certificate for a FULL BODY MASSAGE!!! Woo Hoo!! I’ve never had one of those before. Five kids and 19 + years of being a Mom…I think it’s about time!! I can’t wait to find the time to get my massage 🙂
We ended the night with a trip to our favorite ice cream shop in town…Smitty’s!! 🙂 As you can see, I had a special day, surrounded by the love of my family. I’m a very blessed Mom.
Also on Mother’s Day, a tribute to my own Mom posted on the Disney Driven Life. You can read that here:Â http://thedisneydrivenlife.com/2011/05/07/seize-the-moments/
I hope your Mother’s Day was special too 🙂
