Disney Travel Tip Tuesday – Making a Splash with Sea Raycers

When you’re looking for something extra fun to do on a non-Park day during your Disney World vacation, look no further than the various Resort marinas. Disney offers a fleet of a variety of watercraft’s for rent.

In October, 2010, during our annual family vacation to Disney, we decided to try out the Sea Raycers.

Sea Raycers by Sea Ray® boats are just one of the available options for rent at various Walt Disney World Resort hotels.  Since we were vacationing at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, we began our adventure there.

We had saved this experience for the last day of our vacation. It was our way of taking our minds off of our impending departure. We headed out onto the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake for an hour of excitement and bonding. At 14-years old my oldest son was able to drive, but his younger brother could not. To avoid a meltdown, I quickly promised that we’d repeat the Sea Raycers in two years when he’s 12. That time is now here, so we’ll be adding this to our upcoming vacation.

The sun was shining and the smiles were abundant…

I love the perspective of looking at the Magic Kingdom from the water. It adds an element of calmness that is hard to come by in the hustle and bustle of Main Street, USA. I felt such a sense of peace and tranquility out on the Lagoon.

Half-way through the hour, we stopped for a moment at Fort Wilderness to trade partners. The girls had insisted on each having equal time with Mommy & Daddy. I’m glad we did this, because it allowed me to make special memories with each of them. Meanwhile, watching my boys laughing and enjoying the lake together brought me such joy as well.

At one point, at the request of my 6 year old, we drove over towards the Wilderness Lodge and got up close to the unique trees along the water’s edge:

She thought they were really cool. I looked at her hair flying in the wind and the beautiful smile on her face and felt so incredibly blessed.

It’s hard to describe the gorgeous views that I experienced while out on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. With the wind in my hair, I soaked in the last hour of our Magical vacation in the Happiest Place on Earth.  To my left and right were my loved ones as we sped along the waterways together, giggling and capturing the memories in our minds.

Heading back to the Grand Floridian, my heart was full as another Magical Walt Disney World vacation came to a close.

I highly recommend that you take the Sea Raycers out for a spin on your next trip to Disney World. The cost for rental is very reasonable and the memories you’ll make will be priceless.
